A 43-year old man working on the rig in Okhotsk Sea suffered serious chest pain. He contacted our doctor and suddenly passed out.
The doctor diagnosed sudden cardiac arrest and took emergency actions immediately, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation with electrical defibrillation. Within few minutes the doctor started his patient's heart engine.
At the same time an ambulance helicopter took off from the nearest airport. Within 2 hours the patient has been delivered with charter flight to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk hospital, where he received urgent surgery.
The man underwent appropriate post-operative care and was back to his family and work. Now he lives a full life and does some sports.
